Today I've been back to partridge lakes for the Saturday open match.
The draw bag has presented me peg 168 on covey 6, a peg which I've never fished before. When I arrived at my peg the wind was blowing towards my end of the lake so i thought it might of brought a few fish with it.
I started off fishing across which lasted all of 40 seconds as the wind was to strong. I've then gone down the edge and caught 1 f1 in the space of 20 minutes and had very few indications.
I had been feeding casters at 5m by hand from the start of the match so as nothing was happening down the edge i decided to have a look shallow. This produced an f1 straight away but nothing more, so i picked up a slightly deeper shallow rig which saw me pick odd fish off in spells for the next 3 hours.
This line then started to fade so i decided to try down the edge again where i kept a little bait going in. I caught small carp and f1s steadily and spent the remainder of the match rotating between my two edge lines.
At the end of the match i was left with a total weight of 61lbs which was only good enough for 5th on the lake and only 3rd in the section, which was won with 65lbs, so not far off.
A very difficult and firstrating day where i felt i had made a few mistakes, but i enjoyed it and had a good days fishing.
Today I've been to high Hayes farm fishery. I've drawn peg 22 on lake 2.
At the start I've started short on chopped worm and caster which resulted in nothing,I've then chucked out a method feeder and caught steadily on that all day
At the weigh in I've weighed 59lb 10oz which has got me third in the match so not a bad day
Well done to my dad on winning the match with 81lb 3oz
