Yesterday, I fished the MFS match at Cudmore on Milo.
It was a silverfish only match and unfortunately, I drew the totally wrong end
of the lake.
I drew the second spit on the café bank (not sure on peg number) but all of that bank is very shallow. The deepest water I could find on the pole line was 3ft and as the day before it was frozen, I didn't think this was going to be any good. By casting a waggler to the island (about 25m), I managed to find 5ft of water, so this was going to be my main attack.
I fished a 2gram loaded waggler and had 4 No.10's spaced equally below it. I started off catapulting small balls, about the size of a 10p, of groundbait laced with casters. After a couple of casts, I caught a small chublet, around 2oz and from then on, it was pretty steady all day with just a couple of lulls. I did try feeding a normal one-handed size ball of groundbait but this seemed to kill the swim for about 30 mins so by feeding one small ball every cast, I managed to keep the fish steady, but I never had it completely solid.
I did also feed a pole line but all I could catch from that was the odd gudgeon.
I weighed 7lb 12oz of small chub and the odd ide for nowhere. The 4 pegs on this shallow bank with me, one didn't weigh, one had 1lb 8oz and one had 8lb. Hard going on our bank. The other bank with the deeper water had 29lb for the top weight and the other 11 pegs had double figure weights.
Really enjoyed my days fishing and its not often you get to fish a waggler all match and this is slowly becoming one of my favourite types of fishing! A bad result but a really enjoyable day none the less!
Talent pathway next week at Partridge. Lets hope we get to fish as last time it was frozen over!
Today I've been to high Hayes farm fishery. I've drawn peg 22 on lake 2.
At the start I've started short on chopped worm and caster which resulted in nothing,I've then chucked out a method feeder and caught steadily on that all day
At the weigh in I've weighed 59lb 10oz which has got me third in the match so not a bad day
Well done to my dad on winning the match with 81lb 3oz
