Not a bad couple of days fishing over the Christmas period.
Saturday I went to Mably. Only eight fished. I started on the bomb for carp
with nothing to show after an hour. Then i went on maggots long catching some
f1s. Managed to keep em coming for 38lb, this was good enough for second.
Next was the viaduct silvers pairs match. I went with Steve Allen . On day one i drew spring lake. I had mainly small roach a skimmers long, with a bigger hybrid short. This put me fouth in section catch 5lb. Day 2 I swapped lakes with Steve. But struggled all day not managing to pick up any bonus fish, so not doing very well
Vaiduct Fishery for the 2 day Silver matches with my Partner Aidan Williams. to say the wheels feel off our trolleys is an understatement. some of our draws over the 2 days seemed to be okay, other very iffy. to cut a long story short Aidan had a fairly good first day with myself drawing Cambells 217, 4 bites in 5 hours says it all. day 2, i drew peg 11 on Spring, which i did fancy. end result was 2lb 2 oz of small bits mainly on the waggler, On Aidans lake "Cambell" the fishi ng was equally as hard, we both learnt loads from the trip and i think we both felt that the key was just fishing the Waggler and sprinkling castors over the top, the fish didn't settle over any of the ground bait lines, still a great 2 days away at a fishery I love and had a night out with our James and Michael Mayo , so not all, big Thanks to Steve and the Viaduct team and the fantastic win by Des Shipp and Mark Harper. on a different level but we aim to get there
Big learning curve for both of us Aidan , with it being so cold you had to be on the fish to catch any or at least have the right tactic on the day. unfortunately for us this wasn't the case over the 2 days. still good to be fishing against the likes of Des Shipp and other great anglers, who certainly showed the rest of us how to do it. always next year
Today I've been to high Hayes farm fishery. I've drawn peg 22 on lake 2.
At the start I've started short on chopped worm and caster which resulted in nothing,I've then chucked out a method feeder and caught steadily on that all day
At the weigh in I've weighed 59lb 10oz which has got me third in the match so not a bad day
Well done to my dad on winning the match with 81lb 3oz
